A Small Workshop Grows Big

In 1935 Robert Félix opens a fitter's workshop in Lausanne, a city in Switzerland’s Lake Geneva region. One year later he receives his first patent for an innovative display window system. His son André Félix succeeds him in 1953, developing aluminium profile systems which transform the small workshop into an industrial company at its new home in nearby Bussigny.

Extraordinary Curtain Walls

The company continues to grow at pace and in 1965 develops a new type of curtain wall for Geneva airport, using thermal breaks and insulating infill seals. In 1971 the company installs the largest insulating glass panes produced to this date, at the United Nations Office in Geneva. After a series of other outstanding and high-profile façade projects in Switzerland, the company wins its first international project in 1973, realising a façade system for Nestlé in Barcelona using extra-thin transoms and ventilated panels. In the 1980s Félix Constructions is active in the Middle East and realises a series of prestigious projects in Syria and Iraq.

Working with World-Famous Architects

In the 1990s the company enters the UK market under the leadership of Laurent Félix – the third generation of the family to take charge. The opening of the London office by Hans-Peter Schmidlin lays the foundations for Félix’s participation on extraordinary projects under the lead of world-famous architects. At this point Félix’s experience with façade panels, profiles and glass has resulted in a whole range of specialised products and patents.

International Expansion

Under the new managing director Edgar Joffre the company expands into the Spanish market in 2008. The famous Iberdrola Tower in Bilbao becomes the catalyst for the opening of the Madrid office. With its relocation to Denges near Lausanne the company finds the necessary space to scale up its engineering and production. The all-new facilities allow the company to reach a new level of quality and tailor-made design.

Tailor-Made Façade Systems

In 2014 the managing director Kai-Uwe Schweizer brings on a new board of directors to strengthen the position of the company in an ever-competitive market. Today the company focuses on highly complex and tailor-made façade systems. With its long-standing experience in engineering and its spirit of architectural understanding, Félix Constructions designs and manufactures world-renowned Swiss-made façade systems.
